Track: Integrative Healthcare

SPECIAL EMPHASIS TRACK:  INTEGRATIVE HEALTHCARE
Program Director:  Geneie Everett, PhD, RN

Dr. Everett brings 35 years experience as an Integrative Practitioner incorporating multiple Body/Mind techniques from western medicine and native cultures. Her nursing career included critical care, emergency and transplant services.  She is a member of the American Holistic Nurses Association, served on the Subcommittee for Integrative Practices for the New Mexico Board of Nursing and sponsored Hundred Medicine™: Honoring Many Paths conferences on Integrative Practice.  She is the Founder and Director of Trauma First Aide Associates.  This Track supports the category definitions of Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM), as set forth by the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM), to support the development of integrative health systems and prepare students to offer consultation and education in Integrative Healthcare.
(R) Indicates there is a required Residency component, (D) indicates All-Distance Learning.
Residencies are offered only at the beginning of the Fall Semester in early September.

Students are bound by the Track requirements in place the semester that they enter the Certificate Program or they may request a change to those established in a subsequent semester. 
Students transferring certificate credits to a degree program are bound by the specific degree requirements described in the Official Catalog governing the semester in which they are admitted to the degree Program. 
Certificate students admitted to the Masters or Combined Degree Program begin their program by enrolling in and attending 701- OrP. 

Students choose one of two options for completing the Masters Degree with a Special Emphasis in Integrative Healthcare:
Option I – Additional Courses: Complete 701-OrP (1 credit hour) and Two Additional Elective Courses (6 credit hours) (37 credit hours).
Option II – Masters Essays:  Complete 701 – OrP (1 credit hour) and 790-Master’s Essays and Exam (6 credit hours); Instructors: Chair and Committee (37 credit hours)

DOCTORAL STUDENTS:  There are five Core Doctoral courses (15 Credit-hours) included in the first 30 hours of this Track.  Doctoral Students who fulfill the first 30 hours of this program will need to complete the remaining required Doctoral Core courses. A Doctorate with a Special Emphasis in Integrative Healthcare will require the standard 61 credit hours.
